In the Real Estate process most of us know about Mortgage Lenders....and we know about Realtors. We know about Buyers and Sellers. We know about many of the papers that are passed back and forth. But do we know about the impatrial 3rd parties that witness the signing of these documents? Those folks are called Notary Signing Agents.
"A Notary signing agent is a Notary who is specially trained to handle and notarize loan documents. For lenders, Notary signing agents are the critical final link to complete the loan. A Notary signing agent is hired as an independent contractor to ensure that real estate loan documents are executed by the borrower, notarized, and returned for processing on time. Completing this critical part of the loan process enables the loan to be funded." (~National Notary Association).
While Signing Agents are not required to pass a test, I went the extra mile and acquired my certification from the National Notary Association, and I am covered by their E&O Insurance.
Being a Signing Agent gives me special insight into all sides of the real estate transaction. This insight makes me a better Signing Agent and a better Realtor.
